Ulrike von Pilar
Ulrike von Pilar is the founding president of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders/Ärzte ohne Grenzen in Germany. She has worked almost 30 years in international humanitarian action, among others with UNHCR (in HongKong), but mostly with MSF in a number of different posts. From 1997 to 2005 she served as executive director of MSF in Germany. After coordinating the La Mancha reflection process on the challenges for MSF globally she served for two years as Country Coordinator in Malawi in an HIV/AIDS project. She has lectured and published on a variety of humanitarian issues. By training Ulrike is a mathematician with a doctorate in biomathematics from the University of Tübingen (Germany).
